Danial is an early career clinician–scientist in ophthalmology, specialising in ocular surface and corneal diseases. He completed his medical degree in 2010 and specialist training in Ophthalmology in Iran in 2014. He undertook a PhD in Vision Science at The University of Western Australia, which he completed in 2022.

His doctoral research focused on multimodal ocular imaging and inherited retinal degenerations, providing a foundation for translational eye research. He has since advanced his work in ocular surface and corneal regeneration, developing personalised, innovative therapies with a strong emphasis on clinical translation.

Danial is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Lions Eye Institute and an adjunct senior research fellow at The University of Western Australia. He contributes his expertise in ocular imaging, image analysis, and clinical research methodology across multiple pre-clinical and clinical studies within the research unit. He also collaborates closely with the Cornea and Ocular Surface Immunology Laboratory on advanced corneal imaging and the immune contribution to corneal disease, aiming to elucidate disease mechanisms and inform the development of new therapeutic strategies
