Eve Makrai is an AHPRA-registered, therapeutically-endorsed optometrist in the Downie Laboratory: Anterior Eye, Clinical Trials and Research Translation Unit at the University of Melbourne. 

Eve graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1984, and has since worked as a clinical optometrist in private practice and research settings, and ophthalmology surgical practice. She joined Professor Laura Downie’s team in 2017, and has since been involved in the Unit's clinical trial and clinical research activities in various capacities. She currently works part time, and still enjoys contributing to furthering our research of the anterior eye and chronic disease.
