Jessie Ye is an AHPRA-registered, therapeutically endorsed clinical optometrist and is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Melbourne, which she commenced in 2025 under the supervision of Professor Laura Downie and Professor Lyndell Lim (Centre for Eye Research Australia).

Jessie completed a Bachelor of Optometry with First Class Honours at the University of Auckland in 2020. While practising as an optometrist in New Zealand, Jessie managed a wide range of ocular conditions, and obtained a Certificate in Advanced Contact Lenses from the Australian College of Optometry. In 2022, she relocated to Melbourne to work as a Principal Optometrist in a CBD practice. In this role, she was actively involved in professional groups, including a Contact Lens Committee and an Early Career Advisory Board, and supervised optometry students from different universities during their clinical placements.

Jessie's clinical interests include contact lenses, ocular therapeutics, and anterior eye disease. Jessie’s doctoral research focuses on anterior uveitis, using an advanced imaging technique (Fun-IVCM) developed by the FrontTear Research Centre team to explore the relationship between anterior uveitis and corneal immune cells. Her primary aim is to identify novel, non-invasive biomarkers to improve diagnosis and guide personalised treatment plans for patients with anterior uveitis.

Outside of the lab, Jessie is often found running along the Yarra Trail, playing social futsal, or exploring Melbourne’s food markets.
