Patrick McMillan

Patrick completed his Bachelor of Optometry in 2011 from the University of Melbourne. After graduating, he worked as a primary care optometrist in private practice, corporate optometry, mobile aged care optometry and volunteer outreach work. In 2021, he moved into the position of clinical research optometrist in the Downie Laboratory: Anterior Eye, Clinical Trials and Research Translation Unit, under the leadership of Prof Laura Downie, where he has contributed to ophthalmic clinical trials investigating the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye disease. He is integrally involved with the ADMiER project, which is working towards developing a novel test for the rapid and accurate diagnosis and subtyping of dry eye disease. 

Patrick also holds a position as a preclinical demonstrator in the Doctor of Optometry course at the University of Melbourne. He enjoys contributing to the education and practice of the next generation of optometrists.
