Sheerin Ayub Khan

 Sheerin is a PhD student at the University of Western Australia under the supervision of Associate Professor Holly Chinnery, with collaborative contributions from Dr Danial Roshandel and Dr Samantha Lee. Sheerin earned her Bachelor’s degree in Medicine in India. Her deep interest in ophthalmology motivated her to pursue formal training in the speciality. She worked as a primary eye care provider in India. At the time of her training, her research involved the evaluation of digital eye strain in school children during the time of COVID-19 era.  

Sheerin’s PhD project focuses on the detection of corneal and ocular surface immune-inflammatory changes in myopia using Functional-IVCM in teens and young adults. Her project also aims to explore the role played by atropine in controlling myopia. Sheerin’s project may facilitate the development of targeted therapeutics to control myopia progression. She is committed to driving research that promotes improved eye health.
