Somayra Mamsa is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Lions Eye Institute in the Corneal and Ocular Surface Immunology Group, working with A/Prof Holly Chinnery. Her work is primarily focused on characterising neuroinflammatory and vascular changes to the retina in a model of neurotrauma through microscopy and analysis of gene expression, as well as contributing to analysis of data derived from functional in vivo confocal microscopy of the cornea. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, with First Class Honours in Medical Research, at the University of Western Australia, and recently submitted her PhD thesis in biochemistry at the University of Western Australia, focusing on molecular neurobiology in aging.
